You need to do an MBA from a good school like Wharton, Harvard or Stanford. You should have an undergraduate degree with good ability in maths. A business executive makes anywhere from US$ 70,000 to 150,000. There are many fields of specialisation like Finance, Consulting, Marketing, Human Resources, Operations etc. You need to discover your strengths before you take up MBA. I would recommend that you take any accounting or economics courses that your high school might offer. In college, go for a Business Administration degree minoring in economics or finance. Network, network, network before you get out of college. Be sure that you go to a school with a good business program that holds weight in the business world. Go to any college career fairs where you know that big name companies are hiring for trainee management positions. Once you get in the door, get your MBA (again I would concentrate in Finance or economics). If you go this route you should be well on your way.

Executives usually make between 90,000 (in the large non-profit sector to 100,000+ in the for profit world and don't forget the fringe benefits.

In todays tech world we are seeing a lot of executives with technical background reaching the highest executive positions.

All in all you have to be an aggressive innovator in your industry.
