I grew up around there but moved to Port Huron in '94. I then moved back in 2000. stayed till '04. I couldn't believe how much stuff went up out there. there are literally a ton of new places to go, like the one person said.... all a-long M59 there is everything. the place that I liked the best was Dave & Busters, down by the Home Depot just west of schoenherr.
well, "just 4 2 day" I'm trying to "recover" here in port Huron.
anyways, have fun and I also loved your story to my Q. about BobLo.

Utica has changed a lot since the 80's and there is a thousand restraunts down Hall Road. Which is also M-59.
The Post Bar in Clinton Township is now open on Hayes Rd just north of 18 Mile Rd. Also there is a really cool country bar called Coyote Joe's that is located at 22mile road and Ryan in Shelby Township. Otherwise go to Rochester and hit up Main Street Billard's on Main or Boogie Feaver in Ferndale. Those are my favorite bars to go to

Well, M-59 aka Hall Road goes straight through Utica and Shelby Twp. There are so many restaurants and bars along 59 now. Restaurants are Chili's, Buca Di Beppo, Champps, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Outback, Texas Roadhouse, La Shish, Red Robin, Red Lobster, Logan Steakhouse, National Coney Island and many more...just cant think of the rest off the top of my head. In Mt. Clemens there is Crazy 8's bar which offers really good deals. Last few times I've gone there they had dollar drinks for everything. Crazy 8's is on Macomb St. in Mt. Clemens right next to The Emerald...a good night club. You cant miss the Emerald building if you are traveling south on Gratiot Ave. from M-59. It would be on the left side. If you take M-59 to West to Pontiac, there are nice clubs like Tonic (29 S. Sanginaw St.), Tiki Bobs. But back to bars in Shelby. There is Hamlin Pub (48929 Hayes Rd), Cranks 59th St. Pub (12414 Hall Rd) Snookers on Hall Road just east of M-53, at M-53 and M-59 there is this place called Dave and Busters. You have to be 21 to get in there by yourself and 25 to get in there with a person under 21. It has a lot of games, good food, and a large bar area. Its a fun place. Then there is the Waldenburg Bar at 48920 Romeo Plank Rd, Wellington Bar at 44819 Hayes Rd. There are many bars along Hayes and Schoenherr roads south of M-59/Hall Rd. You could also go to CJ Barrymore's along Hall Road it is half way between Garfield road and I-94 on Hall. So it would be east of almost all of the bars and restaurants I listed. There arent many cheap places to go to around here. Thats what kind of sucks but many times you will be able to find some type of deal. Hope you have fun.

Wow are you in for a shock. I'm a former Shelby/Utica resident now living in the Port Huron area but I visit the folks every couple/few weeks. I'm a Utica High grad myself (class of '87) along with my brother (class of '82). Utica has changed quite a bit and Shelby Township will probably look totally different to you. In Utica itself, the downtown district consists of a few bars and restaurants- the Locker Room, Cactus Jack's, I believe the Shamrock Irish Pub still exists, and Darrien Hatcher built a small sports bar in town when he briefly played for the Red Wings which I also believe is still there.-basically all on Auburn Road. As for Shelby, the bars are more spread out and range from the "dives" to the Irish pub to sports bars to fancier new places.I'm not a big bar/club person but if you are looking for better variety of bars/clubs/etc., I would suggest Rochester, Pontiac, Mt. Clemens or Royal Oak. As for restaurants, I guess I need more info on what kind of food/ ethnicity, family style vs fine dining, independent vs chains, price range, etc. You can shoot me a message by clicking on my user name and I'll see if I can be of more help.
