Apples to Apples is a great game for all ages. It's great for a family or a party, because up to 10 can play at a time. There is a junior version for ages 7 and up and an adult version for 12 and up, but with help, kids 8 and up can play the adult version. The game involves trying to match a card in your hand with a descriptive card placed in the center of the table. One person acts as the judge in each round, determining whose card is the best match or the wildest mismatch. For example, the center card may read "painful" and you might have "a bad haircut," "speeding tickets" and "Regis Philben" to choose from. Every person gets a turn as judge. To win the game, you must win a certain number of rounds, which decreases with the number of players, i.e., if four are playing, you need to win eight rounds, but if ten are playing, you need to win four rounds. Try it, it's good for lots of laughs!

According to people like me who actually belong to groups that play boardgames as a regular hobby, the best boardgame is a game called Puerto Rico. We don't really play any of the mass market games like Monopoly, Clue, etc. because they get boring too fast. If you want to know what the boardgamers are playing, check here:

You probably won't recognize them, but trust me, they're good.

Baulderdash is a lot of fun, especially with a bunch of people. It's a blast to write down some stupid definition and try to keep a straight face when the poor dasher has to read it out loud.

Also, Scattegories is a lot of fun, and not complicated at all!
