I'm curious...mainly because I was the person who got run over (literally over....ran over my chest/back, fractured three vertebrae, two hairline rib fractures...plus my face ain't as pretty as it used to be ;-) ).

If you're interested in what she actually got, look for me to post the "do you think she should have gotten less or more" question tomorrow...

Personally, I hate to hear stories about how people have been hurt by drunk drivers. Apparently, keeping alcohol away from them won't work, so I feel we should try the other approach. On the first conviction of drunk driving, lose the right to own a car. On the second conviction (driving someone else's car), have their eyes put out. Blind people can't drive, as far as I know.

well if you lived in the great state of Texas the guy would go to jail for a long time which he should just because you were drunk is no excuse About six years ago when i was still in high school this guy in my class got drunk with two friends and went out to get more beer. They were driving at 110mph a car pulled out in front of him he went to the shoulder to pass caught the edge of the road flipped the car end over end fourteen times killing his best friend in the passenger set he lived with out a scratch and the second friend as well who was in the back seat. the driver got involuntary vehicular man Slater 20 years for this he was only 18. Still there to this day in state pen Huntsville TX so this person who ran you over should be punished very harsh should be involuntary attempted murder.

They would most likely be charged with intoxication manslaughter, but the government would have to prove that she was drunk at the time of the accident. Otherwise, depending on the facts of the case, it could be attempted murder/vehicular manslaughter or even just ruled an accident. There are too many variables at this time.

I think a drunk driver who causes an accident in which there is an injury should get a mandatory 10 years in jail, seizure of any real property owned, seizure of any motor vehicles, fine of $10,000 and loss of drivers license for 25 years.

If a fatality is involved then it should be mandatory death penalty.

First drunk driving should be a felony. Then if they kill somebody find a tree.

Is this harsh? No. There have been warnings for years about what happens when you drink and drive so you have afore thought. Actually driving you have at LEAST depraved indifference, if not intent. Intent and afore thought two factors for 1st degree murder

I say, give the driver to you and your family to mete out the punishment. Too many opposing views, usually. At least so far, no one has said "She had to drive, she was too drunk to walk."

Drinking and driving is stupid. Sorry to hear it happened to you. When the drunk who ran over my granddad (left leg amputated, busted liver, etc) got out of jail, he just did it again to someone else.

I think her punishment should be made to drink as much beer her stomach can possibly hold until it is tight like a drum and then you get to kick her in the stomach as many times as you see fit!!
