This camera has 5 x digital zoom
You can usually take 30 sec. videos with digital cameras and you can take as many as your memory card can handle
Your best bet, if you can afford it is a digital Video camcorder (costs about $500 )

it tells you on the item descritpion how much zoom, it has, 3x, and as far as how long a video, it depends on how much memory you put in it. click on item descrition

3x optical zoom. It is the same thing as igital zoom.

3X optical, 4X digital, 12X combined.
HOWEVER, digital zoom will make your picture grainy, so I won't count on actually using it.
