She quit because of Rosie O'Donnell.

Star of 'The View' says she's had enough

June 28, 2006

Don't expect any smackdown between Rosie O'Donnell and Star Jones Reynolds on ABC's "The View." Jones Reynolds says she's leaving the show. She told People magazine, "I feel like I was fired." Rumors that she was leaving had intensified since the April announcement that O'Donnell would be replacing Meredith Vieira on "The View" in the fall. O'Donnell had made several caustic remarks about Jones Reynolds, saying that it was dishonest for her to talk about losing more than 100 pounds through diet and exercise without talking about gastric bypass surgery. Jones Reynolds, one of the original cast members of Barbara Walters's daily chatfest, made the announcement on "The View" yesterday, saying the show had decided to move in a new direction.

star has known for a long time that her contract was not being renewed and that she was not coming back next season. the views staff told star that no matter what she said she was leaving for they would back her up. like some people say they are moving on to other projects and stuff. but she wasn't suppose to make the announcement until today because she was supposed to finish this season out. on tuesday she went on the air and told everyone that she would not be back in the fall and she felt like she had ben fired. barbara was offended and went on the air yesterday and told the world that she felt betrayed and she did everything she could to protect star, and she gave star enough time to find a new job. she said that she was hoping that star would do that and leave with dignity, but she didn't. (those are her words, not mine)

nothing in particular. she has her fans.
I guess she did have some disagreement with Barbara walters, the BOSS so that never helps.
she was criticized by rosey odonald about her stance against gay marriage
This is weird because star married a GAY
then barb immediately agreed to hire Rosy so star saw that as a her being betrayed by barbara
So star announced she is quitting, but really her contarct ran out and it was not offered to her to renew it.

My opinion is that she represented a demograpjic segment of the viewers (fat single black ladies) and when she lost weight and got married, they lost those viewers.

Rosey did not like star getting surgery to lose weight and then acting like she did it with will power and then made snide remarks about rosey being fat and impliedly weak-willed.
watch kieth oberman to get more rumors facts etc

According to Geraldo Rivera on Bill O'Reilly Show today:
Star'd accepted gifts offers in exchange for mentioning the brands of those gift (allegedly gifts for her wedding) as unofficial advertisement on The View. In addition, she lost massive weights through gastric bypass surgery, but on The View, she claimed to have lost weights rather through her strict diets & exercise. Apparently, Rosie O'Donnell was the one who publicly disclosed Star's diet secrets & Star didn't like it.
Since O'Donnell going to be a permernant member of The View this Fall, Star chose to leave.
I heard that ABC has had enough with Star & refused to renew Star's contract with The View.
Frankly, I don't care who leaves or who arrives to that show. I don't think the show's gonna last long.

She's pissed a lot of people off. The biggest thing was her wedding and her screwing people to get all her wedding stuff paid for.. which was disgusting... like she couldn't afford to pay for her own wedding.. talk about cheap!! She's selfish.. she's arrogant.. she's conceited.. she's self-centered... she's ignorant.. and she's annoying. She's been disrespectful.... especially to the person on the show who holds the most cards and authority, Barbara Walters. She needed to go.. she brought the show down because she seemed to feel that doing the show was beneath her, especially if she had to do it with Rosie O'Donnell. She really felt she was holier-than-thou... and glad to see the back-side of her.. not that I'd actually like to see her fat a*s*s... and I hope I never have the pleasure of seeing her in anything ever again.

Star's contract with the View was not renewed and Barbara got upset with her for announcing that she would be leaving the View when Barbara and the producers had planned for her to make the announcement a day later. Basically, Star surprised them and made the announcement when she wanted and didn't follow the producer's schedule as planned.

Its been heard that ratings were lost when she got married and lost all kinds of weight. She is now on Larry King Live doing an interview telling the reasons why she is leaving the View, and why her contract was not extended.....It started at 9 pm

Star Jones announced that she will not be back to "The View" in the fall, but NBC wasted no time and fired her before she could quit, I guess someone got to much of a swelled head.

i dont think she was supposed to tell that her contract was not renewed and would not be back. i think they wanted her to say that she found another job. i guess she was pissed that she got fired and told everyone, and I dont know what she said about rosie, but rosie was always making cracks about how she could have lost all that weight without plastic surgery, but star would not admit to having any

the official opinion given by barbara walters was based on two star faults:
no one liked the way she lost so much weight so fast
and
no one liked her flashy wedding where she got all sorts of free endorsements for selling her love to the highest bidder.
walters says that through polling she had discovered that viewers were turned off by these two items....so they were not going to renew her contract.
