Fake or not, if the snake senses it is in real danger, it will strike. Depending on the amount of venom (or if it uses any at all) has to do with if the snake feels its life is at stake. You keep on placing that hand on the snake, it might get annoyed and try to get away most definitely. If you put pressure on the snake and pin it down, you bet he'll defend himself if he is not permitted to run.
It also depends on what kind of species of snake you're dealing with. Some are more aggressive than other species. Put that hand on a big fat ol' boa, and i'm sure he won't even care - unless you haven't fed him in a looong time!
The snake would eventually run out of venom if you kept provoking it, granted the snake had no way of escape. But remember, venom is costly to produce for the snake - he'll only use it when his life is being threatened.
Why are you asking this question anyway? lol

Nothing is likely to happen to the rubber hand, toxins are sdesigned to opperate either on flesh, muscle, or nervous tissue. Also, no further venom is likely to be dispensed after 5-10 bites, the snake would simply run out. Some snakes won't even attack a rubber hand. Pit vipers, such as rattle snakes, have heat-sensing pits, and therefore don't indentify the relatively cool hand as a threat, remaining forcussed on the body holding the fake hand.

Most likely if the snake was initially threatened by the hand it may strike. However, most snakes will not strike unless there is no other alternative (like escape). After the hand has been in the proximity of the snake for an extended period of time and it has determined the hand is not a threat it would not continue to strike the hand. The production of complex proteins like hemotoxin and neurotoxin venoms are very energy costly to the snake and it wouldn't want to continue to waste venom on a non-prey or non-threat item.

Depending on the snake some keep producing venom without stop. Some just dry bite. Others may run out of venom for a short period of time.Depending on the snakes temperment it may no even bite. If you kept touching it without hurting it maybe it would stop biting. I know spitting cobra's can go on and on.

A fake hand...interesting...Some snakes wouldn't even attack the hand because it is not warm enough to be considered alive.
Most snakes only produce enough venom to strike a couple of times then it would run out possibly retreating away from the hand.

It might run out of venom but with many snakes it only takes a drop to kill ya. If it ran out of venom it could give you a pretty nasty bite for harrassing it.

Eventually, I think the snake would have a nervous breakdown.
Most snakes have multiple defenses, it depends on the snake. It might play dead, it would certainly try to run away, but I think what you would end up with eventually is a catatonic snake.

I think that this would completely embarrass the poor snake. I can just picture all his little snake friends laughing at him. He'd be the butt of every joke in the wild kingdom. What kinda' creep would do that to a snake?

all animals go by odors, so if they can't smell, for eg, blood or flesh, they won't go.
