If you have access to Windows Media Player 9.0 (for Windows 98 SE, Windows Millennium Edition, and Windows 2000), you can lighten an AVI video that is too dark by doing the following:

1. Open the video in Windows Media Player.

2. While the video is playing go to the top of Windows Media Player and choose "View".

3. Then choose "Enhancements".

4. Then choose "Video Settings", which allows you to adjust the brightness and other video settings like contrast.

* Note this may also work in later versions of Windows Media Player like 10 and 11 Beta as well.

And as of 6-29-2006, here are some helpful links:

Good Luck!

Play it on Windows media player, click on View, then scroll down to Enhancements, then click on that, and you will be able to adjust for brightness and color etc.
