I urge you to look up and browse The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. It contains the rules creditors must follow in collection efforts.
As for coming to your door, the Act prohibits conduct designed primarily to harrass, etc. -- and at least here in NY, knocking on your door for any reason other than a process serving handing you a summons to court strikes me as exactly that.

They do have the right, but as another poster said, if you tell them not to, they cannot. But that should be done by letter so you have proof that they were told.
Also, they "cannot" speak to a third person about "your" debt. If they knock on the door and someone other than you answers, they cannot give the reason why they need to speak with you. They cannot speak to your neighbors about your debt, they cannot speak to anyone at your work about your debt.

It depends on what notice you have received. If they have sent you anything warning anything of this nature would happen if payment was not made within a certain time frame than yes. If they haven't told you anything like this was going to take place, than no.

Anyone has the natural right to knock on your door or phone you. You can can tell them to stop, and after that it can be trespassing or harrassment, but they first have to be told explicitly.
