You might be really nervouse to perform in front of others but not just with you only listening. jUst relax and imagine that you are the only one listening

Do the SHOW, then you will know
I have wondered this for years myself
The answer I like is this:
The voice is our heads, the one we use when we think is an ideal version of our voice. As you know from recording, the voice we use is different, for some people VERY different. Most of us do not sing with the voice others hear, we sing with the voice we THINK with.
You probably do not sound horrible, if you can trust your friends, then you do sound good
Do this: record a song, listen to the playback, make notes, what would you change
do NOT erase it
Sing it again with your 'corrections'
compare the two

Now, how good do you sing?

And then you go and sing Karaoke and you wish you could shoot yourself in the middlie of the song. And then nobody claps. There must be ahundred and seven people there and you have to walk back to the bar after your song and your friends don't even look at you. So you order a shot but the bartender ignores you for like, seventeen minutes and by the time he comes around again you order a double Jose, the hell with the lime . And then everyone in your party and their second cousin all at once have to go to the pisser for who knows what but you don't give a rat's *** cause you feel like you're half way to Mexico by now and when they finally lose their sense of self respect and come back to their seats in a fashionable manner, you take advantage of the moment, stand and whirl your hat in the air and yell yee faricken ha, lets party amigos..................well, I've never done that but I know some gringos from down San Antonio, you know what I'm sayin? ....... alright then, if you know what I'm sayin could you please email me at the Laredo Police department becouse I am in some deep ****, man. Okay, you have a good day then....

A lot of times, people can't hear exactly how good or bad they are when they're singing. I sort of cup my hand around one ear when singing and have the bottom of the hand not touching my face. Kinda out. I don't know why, but you can hear yourself better like that.

Do what you think you should do. Personally, I say go for it, because if people think you're good and you think you're great then you must sound excellent. Do not worry about how you sound when you get recorded, because I record myself alot and it is ugly but I am a great singer.Well, it is up to you. That was just my advice.

It's all about how you think your singing sounds. Another reason, is that somepeople's voices sound really different recorded. Go ahead, do the talent show!! I'm rooting for you!

Everyone can sing a song on a certain pitch. You have to practice breathing and pitch control constantly to be able to sound good in front of any one.

Ask me.Ill give you a professional opinion.Everybodys friends and family think their relatives are better than they really are.Do you have good pitch? What is your range? What style best suits your voice.I used to hate listening to myself on tape because I would analyze it and pick it apart. But that was just me.Be courageous and be able to accept criticism.Good Luck.
