As for those of you who call me idealist or tell me i'm living in a fantasy land, you are getting Libertarians confused with Anarchists. I don't want no government I just want a limited government where I make my own way and help others by choice instead of force. Libertarians come in all shapes and sizes not just anarchists. I believe my opinions on morality should be shared not shoved down other's throats, I believe that we should be able to make money in a free market with limited interference from the government. Capitalism needs to be regulated but not as much as we regulate it now.

And as for throwing away a vote, everyone who compromises on the lesser of two evils is throwing away a vote they could be using to elect someone they agree with and respect, all that throwing away a vote nonsense does is perpetuate our current two party mess.

I converted from Republican. Libertarianism is more classical liberalism so there is no basis for the statements that "it won't work". Many Jeffersonian beliefs are involved in Libertarianism. And for God's sake, there is NO correlation between Libertarianism and communism. They are two diametrically opposed philosophies.
We're out here. We will continue to gain support. You can thank us now, or you can thank us later for saving America. That's a little strong. I'll work on it.

Sure I fit almost in the middle of the libertarian sector. I think the problem I've had with them has to do with 2 things. First, I didn't like the way they aggressively solicited people in airports about 20-30 years ago. Also, they were relentlessly promoting "nuclear fusion", as an energy source. This is something that is neither economical nor clean (I knew someone who worked at a place with a Tokamak reactor.) Also, another responder had a point. Can a libertarian win? Can they get elected or just act as a spoiler- making sure we get another Dubya? Who from the Libertarian Party has a clear vision and a compelling manner?

Good stunt, but not original. I've seen this before. Your question is not a real question, but rather a political agenda disguised as a question in a publicly visible and popular forum.
But just for giggles, I'll answer anyway. In theory the Libertarians have some good ideas. But in reality they won't work. This is the same problem that the Communists have. Wouldn't it be great if we could just all love one another and there would be no government and everyone worked for the good of the whole community? NOT! Human nature has destined that ideas like Libertarianism and Communism will fail. That's why more of us don't run out and support your cause.
It's a great idea, but only to run the country of Fantasyland.

Libetarians are wacko's in the wrong direction. When you vote for a libertarian you are just throwing you vote to the wind allowing the lessor of two evils to win an election instead of the person that might be good for the country.

I agree that I am a Libraterian according to the quiz, However, is the quiz rigged to make us think we are libraterians? Maybe. In theroy, I agree with the views of Libraterinas...however, the term is just too close to sounding like Libral for me...just kiddin'...
Now, for the sake of fun...who will run as a Libraterian that could sway enough votes from each party to make a difference?
Glenn Beck, maybe? I've heard him say that he is a Libraterian on a few occasions...I'd vote for Glenn Beck over anyone else...
ARE YA READING THIS GLENN? We need a Libraterian movement and you should start it!!! Run in 08...I'll vote for ya.

I've never heard of Libetarians. But I think I am a libertarian at heart. Join an organization? Isn't it more likely to work thru a major conservative party, to protect rights?
Or does it mean Tibetans? Well I ...

Because I don't want to have to shop around for a cop or a fire department whenever I need assistance.
The free-market fundamentalism of the libertarians is very naive.

I want to see prototypes communities that have been successful with this. It sounds good in theory but I am not sure it will work. Try it out somewhere. Maybe a small country somewhere.

The HBO show "Deadwood" is about a community of libertarians
I've always liked both, hard to stomach someones freedom when it doesn't jive with your own.
