Many think it is stylish to bash Americans and talk ill of Geo.Bush. It is just not right.
I am not an American but I live in this N.Am continent. I have nothing but admiration and respect for the Americans because many things are here today because of their innovation and creativity. They have given so much to humanity, science, literature and business. They excel in many sports. One cannot argue with success. If you make it here, you can make it anywhere.
It is mostly jealousy that makes people from other continents to call them arrogant, stupid and other undeserving names. I am saddened by such remarks because one cannot generalize. But America is a bigger target so it is easy to shoot for.
They have the ability to laugh at themselves. That is their strength because they are confident.

Well, I will honestly say I am Canadian and live right across the boarder from Detroit, and many of you are probably think oh here we go, but I have to say I've also traveled a lot, and I can tell you that as some have stated there are good and bad in all countries including mine. I know people generalize and that isn't fair. Some of my best friends are Americans, and some of the people who have bothered me are Americans, but that also goes for all other countries I've been too, including my own. There are some great Canadians and there are some I think we should hide away due to shame and embarassment (no I am really kidding) but what it comes down to is, everyone is different and you can't like or get along with everyone. There has been much that has happened over the past years here and especially in the US and my heart goes out to all of those who have lost someone or have people abroad. I hope the world stops being so hard on the American citizens and perhaps if they must blame someone look at those in power.
I hope everyone has a great day :)

Americans seem to be quite divided as seen on this website. On the whole they are just like you and me just want to get on with their lives. However we can't ignore some facts. They are rampent consumers, have the highest obsesity rate in the world for any major country, have more SUVs than anywhere else in the world. Consumes much more than it produces as by the current account deficit. The rich are very rich and the poor are poor as pointed out by a high GINI index of 46.3 the highest by far of the developed countries. These are facts not opinons my opinons are based on these facts.
BTW I am not a US Citizen nor do I live there.

Well I'm American, and you can't just have one opinion on us. We're very different, not just all rude, attention seeking people like a lot of people think. Soem of us are rude and attention seeking, but others are just as conservative and thankful as some of the people who sterotype us. And that goes for all countries. Not everybody in England is reseverd, Irish people are NOT drunks (I find that highly offensive since most of my family is from Ireland) and so forth.
