Well, my fav insect would probably have to be the stag beetle, no particular reason really, I just like it. But since you extended the answer to arachnids then my fav arachnid (also my fav animal) is the scorpion, I love scorpions, too many reasons to list here.

the scarab it was a holy symbol to the ancient Egyptians.
It was actually just a dung beetle rolling a ball of poop but they elevated something so lowly to something so divine.

lightning bugs. because they remind me of summer, and in the daytime, they are the cutest little things..flying all upright with the fast little wings and long antennea. just adorable...

I pick the ant lion.
