These websites all sponsor free music downloads, mostly from self produced musicians (like myself) and offer a wide variety of styles. First, go to http://naughtyaudio.com/index.php

Then there's

http://www.soundclick.com/default.cfm?pathnow=/default.cfm

http://www.sectionz.com/home.asp?keywords=electronic+music

These site have a free registration before you can download, no cost attached.

If you have an iPod player or ipod/iTunes program on your PC then there are free podcast sites like

http://www.shockpod.com/castit.php

http://www.odeo.com/

http://www.podomatic.com/

These all host a wide variety of programming. If you're interested, here's the addresses for my music that you can download for free as well, provided you like it.

http://www.odeo.com/channel/97427/view

http://feeds.feedburner.com/shockpod/JatT

http://studio.odeo.com/channel/104968/view

And I have a lot of material at naughtyaudio.com. If you have an ipod player, you can download the whole series of songs, or you download just what pieces you like from the urls supplied.

Happy hunting!

Not legally. Sure, you can find some indie rock sites that let you download their music, but not pop.
