No, regular cooking pots will be alright depending on how long you leave them soaking. Soaking in hot or warm water and your elbow grease will get the pot clean. Leaving it to soak in cold water is just having the pan wet.

Not bloody likely. If that were the case, fluid would be seeping out of the pots when you cooked! It's not a good idea to soak aluminum pots in water with detergent, because the mildly caustic detergent will etch the pots and make them ugly. It's not a good idea to soak cast iron pots, because they will rust. Otherwise, soak away!

It depends on what it is made of. put hot water in the dirty pot with a detergent specifically for whatever material it is made of for best results. most cooking ware can be soaked, but I have heard of a few that are not meant to be submerged in water.

Only cast iron is damaged by water - can rust.
Other materials - aluminum, anodized aluminum, steel, enamel can stay in water indefinitely.

"Trolls might want to be operating time previous regulation!" regrettably, they spoke to their union reps and were instructed they hadn't been assembly their quotas the previous couple of months, so assume them to be out in pressure. I usually carry a Stun gun round to apply on them, to attempt to keep em back. Oh, and humorous as hell shaggy dog tale....
