my doctor said the clomid stimulates maturity of the folicles... in my last ultrasound the doctor said i had one egg ready to be released from my left overy... but that i have several VERY small ones in my right overy prepairing for next month. he asked if i wanted to skip this cycle (going through artificial insemination) and wait for the right overy's egg supply next month. i am going in tomorrow to see if it is time to use the injectable drug PREGNYL 10,000 units in one dose. the pregnyl is a hormone that stimulates my overy forcing it to drop eggs. the doctor tells me there is ONLY one egg that is mature enough to possibly be fertilized... so, i don't THINK it's the HCG drug that causes maultiples... HCG prepares the body for pregnancy and actually tricks the body into thinking it is. i was told that when i get pregnant i will need to continue with hormone shots until i am at 12 weeks to HELP me from miscarriage (although i've never had a miscarriage before). the HCG does cause eggs to spill out, but the doctor knows by ultrasound how many are actually viable...
