I believe Chives are herbs and Leeks are vegetables

Well, there's an "e" where you've put an "a" for starters. And then, have you seen the size differential between the chives and the leeks? I think they are cousins or such, chives coming from green onions. My dad loved both and seemed to tell me that, but then, I forget. That's the best answer I can give, 10 points or not. God Bless you.

I don't know the technicalities but:
-chives are small. They grow in a little bundle-bush-thing and they have these purple flower things. I don't think you generally unearth them for use, just chop off the visible bits that you need.
-leeks are HUGE. They look like giant green onions. They have the bulbous bit and the green stalky part.

both are formes of the onion, a chive (small thing) is used as a herb on food, sprinkled over like on baked potatoes, a leek is a large thing, chopped up and added in the cooking process, like potatoe leek soup.
