Be assured the Bible and its message are for real. Heaven is a real place where you can spend eternity if you've accepted Christ. We humans have wonderful imaginations. Still, we cannot begin to imagine how glorious heaven will be. Most of us have times when we question things. Hold on to your faith. The way things are going in the world you're going to need it. God bless!

the Bible is of course "real" (at least if you believe that there is such a thing as reality at all). That's not the hard question. The hard question is: What is the Bible really?
The Bible is a real book. It was written down over the course of a long time by many real people (though not necessarily penned by the same people as the names attached to it imply), and it was revered and believed in by a real, specific and historical culture.
In this way, the Bible is much like many other real book that were believed in and remembered and recorded and preserved for many generations. The Iliad and the Odyssey were also real books that have just as fascinating of a history.
But just because a book is real, and just because millions of people have believed that its philosophies are true, this does not necessary mean that what is says is the "one universal truth."
The Bible needs to be approached the same way you would approach any ancient or modern book that claimed to tell the one and only truth -- with a critical mind to its history, its processes of transmission and translation, and its modern relevance.
Being "real" neither means something is true or false. Historical research can tell you if specific things in the Bible happened or not, but nothing except your own faith and reason can tell you if what it says about God is the same kind of "truth" as what the story of Gilgamesh or the Iliad or the Egyptian book of the Dead will tell you. Most scholars of the ancient world do not consider the Bible to be entirely unique in its truth claims... but most faithful Christians do.
So -- is the Bible true to *you*?

Well, some of the stories in the bible are based on real events, but so are a lot of other cultures' myths. They were written over hundreds of years--and some had been passed down orally for countless years before that--as fables and moral examples. Do you think the people in that part of the world happened to hit on the truth with their fables, any more than people in other places who made up stories about the world being on a turtle's back, or in a spider's web? Maybe, maybe not. The stories have gotten themselves passed on very successfully because, as a previous answer mentioned, we humans have very active imaginations. Of course, that doesn't mean there is or isn't an afterlife.

I believe the Bible is for real, but it was written by man ,so
I'm sure the truth was stretched a bit in some of the books to make it sound better for the people of the time. Just keep believing, be a good Christian, follow the teachings of Jesus and in the end you'll know if heaven is real. That's what I'm doing

The bible is a document that is written by man.
Anything that is written by man is an opinion.
If the bible were real why did the counsel at Nicea find it necessary to edit it. Why are their different versions of the bible.
People just need some kind of answers about creation.
Every culture has their own ideas about creations and death.
I'm not dead yet so how should I know which one is the truth?

That, my friend, can only be interpreted by you.
Myself, I believe it to be real. To a certain extent.
How the hell can ANYONE be sure?
Were they alive back then?
It could have been some psycho sitting under a tree with a wild imagination.
Point is, you have to keep an open mind.
i have NO doubt that some of the things documented could have happened, but don't forget, the Bible has been reworked and things added, so what really is the truth.
I think, be true to yourself. it doesn't matter WHAT you believe, as long as you believe.

You are the exact point I am, questioning my faith.. At times I can't help but think that it could be possilble it is all lies..To some people, they put thier complete faith in the Bible, but me mine is a dust collector in my closet. But only you can decide if it is real or not. I just don't put my complete faith in it cause, what if it's all a lie? But just in case, I pray every night and beg for forgiveness, you know just in case...
