I have plenty of ram and have only had the laptop about 3-4 months and it seems to be slowing down more and more. Does anyone know any free tools to speed it up? Help is greatly appreciated.

It's very possible that you have a virus, or spyware, or even more probable, a trojan. Clean it out, and it should be faster. Also try defragmenting the hard drive as well.

Install AVG free.grisoft.com and scan Hard Drive.
Download Spybot search and destroy. Scan and repair.
Download Adaware Personel Edition and Do and Deep Scan.
Defrag your drive. Right click my computer, Manage, Disk Defragmentor, Defrag button.
Start, Run, MSconfig, startup tab, Compare that list with this website to uncheck processes you dont need.

restart your machine and test it.
It should now be significantly faster!!!

is your connection a dial-up? are you 100% optimistic that you dont have an endemic? - in case you dont have an endemic nicely, then contact your ISP. to envision if a trojan is the reason attempt to envision for your community files -restart your laptop or close all of your browsers operating,bypass for your commence up menu>the RUn command >typ cmd>then type netstat in case you spot any get admission to to the web then you definately have a trojan importing or downloading or maybe theres a courses that's updating. cheers ^_^ in case your AV application isn't operating precise nicely then its time to regulate it.^_^

Start>:Run> type msconfig then click on "start up" tab.
see how many things are checked there and if you can uncheck what you think you don't need.
that will disable them from starting up when the computer opens

Clean it out and make it like a new one again or go to PCPitstop it will tell you what iswrong with it

your hard drive is probably fragmented with many files
that is if you download a lot and compose stuff..

go to download.com and download AVG antivirus and Spyware doctor.
