Everybody has an opinion, so here's mine. I don't think anyone should be put to death. I don't believe ending a life, any life, is within mortal man's domain. I also think executions are a barbaric hold over from less civilized times. And finally, I've seen the sociological research on the death penalty which doesn't just claim that it not a deterant to capitol crime, it draws on statistics that prove it. In fact, it also shows that when an execution takes place, for a period of time, with in a varying radious of the prison, crime actually increases.
Now that I've shot my mouth off, I will also addmit that I have never been close enough to a capitol crime to have it effect me. Should that ever happen, I don't know what would happen to my convictions. I'd like to think they'd remain unchanged, but I just don't know.

Any men or Woman for that matter who takes another's life should be punished to the maximum of the Law, even if they are put to death I think that they deserve it because they did not think twice in ending another's life. Like that Mexican man who was the railroad killer, he did not show any remorse in ending someone's life. One lady in particular that was murdered with her husband, were asleep when he killed them, and violently for that matter. That lady was a doctor, everybody knows that to become a Doctor, you study a lot and ending her life just like blowing out a match, is horrendous. That guy should not only be put in the gas chamber but they should have tortured him as well. I say they should execute Paul Reed too.

I totally agree with "trafordman" above, if some one is truly found guilty beyond any reasonable doubt, send them to a devils island where they can forage for life among there own kind and not be a tremendous expense to tax payers. I think the death sentence is an easy way out, let some one be miserable for the balance of their life is a real punishment.

Of course he should be put to death. The victim's next of kin should be offered the opportunity to choose the method and also to deliver it if they desire. No good can come of feeding him and housing him until he dies a natural death or is let out to kill again. What about the crimes he is no doubt committing against the other inmates? Get rid of him and all other convicted murderers as soon as possible after sentencing. Any educated person can see the logic of it.

In a word, YES. For anyone not knowing who Paul Reid is, he is a man responsible for killing multiple people at a Captain D's resteraunt in Nashville, TN , and thought to be responsible for the same type of crime at a fastfood resteraunt in Clarksville, TN. He was an aspiring country music singer from Texas. The evidence against him was overwhelming, although he has pleaded his innocence. He recieved a stay of execution on the day he was supposed to be executed.

No.Jailed for life and isolated from society : yes.
Alive in jail , he can be an example. But dead, he could be a hero to the ones who think they have nothing to lose (even their lives).
Killing to punish or prevent killing is a sign of total immaturity in an immature society. The US justice have a long way to go yet to reach intelligence and democracy.
Dont forget that potentially, everyone in the US has the right to kill... Guns are in the hands of kids at schools, and we know a lot of those tragedies...
