They only matter to get in, but they also take into consideration extra curricular activities, SAT's, the essay and other things that make up the application, not just your grades.
I had nearly no extra activities outside of school and I got accepted to a very good school. Granted I only went for a year before I realized it wasn't the place for me, but still.

Yes, sorry, they do. Unless you have made a significant scientific discovery (potato clock does not count) or were extremely successful in other socially acclaimed area. You can always go to a community college which will take anyone and most state universities let you transfer with worse grades than they would from HS. If your grades are not quite that bad and you are taking AP classes, you can make up for it with extra activities and still get into a good school, but the Ivy Leagues will not go for that. Or, just as I did, go to a different country where they will not take your transcripts that seriously. I had a GPA of 2.2 and now I am at Georgetown ;)

Don't know if there are any God Colleges out there...maybe *good* colleges. FYI--I do know you need to at least have some spelling skills before you try to go to college, otherwise you might not make it past the application. Or at least use spell check on everything! Grades do matter and if you have high grades and are active in extra-curricular activities, you probably will get in and maybe have a scholarship as well. If you want to slack off, have fun at community college!

Yes, they do matter.
My advice is to repeat the year if you cannot get good enough grades, or put your head down and really work hard for the rest of the year.
What students don't realise is, that the time at school is really so short...its now the end of June, nearly July...if you just concentrate and work hard you can improve your grades and get there..
My son and I compete on everything, and he was being lazy and flunking, and what I did was show him my results, and say he can beat me at everything, what about this????
He ended up with straight A's...to show me he could, got into a good College and is now a high ranking respectable IT person, earning more than I make in 10 years, in one year..
Yes..results are important, as thats how the Colleges and Uni's choose you...and you can do it.. Just do it.
Go for it...

Absolutely. They tell the colleges you apply for what kind of a student you are. Colleges ultimately want high scoring, hard working students because it makes the school look better. The better a school looks, the more money they can charge for tuition. So get good grades and go to the school you want. Your first job out of school will largely determine what you do for the rest of your professional career. That job can only look at how good your grades are and how good of a school you went to.

Define good. I am sure there is a college that will accept you. It depends on several factors. Where did your parents and their parents go to college? How much have they endow to the college? Are you a member of a recognized minority? Do you live in Texas? Good luck, based on the spelling and grammar in the Question I am surprised (no, I take that back, depressed) that you were granted a high school diploma.

Yes they do. Are you just entering your sophmore or junior years? If so, this is the time to really take it seriously. Study well, ask questions, let the teachers know you are sincere about your education. Talk to your counselors about college options. Take courses to prepare for the SAT for college entrance.

God has a college? Huh, never knew.
Yeah, they go by grades, SAT scores and extra curricular activities such as clubs.
So, I'd say study like hell for the SATs and pray you do well.
