Firstly do not go to a modeling agency without a portfolio as they will want you to get one and these can be very expensive, you best bet is to get a friend to take a lot of photos of you with a digital camera (in different clothes and backgrounds) and then select a 10-20 really nice photos and create a digital portfolio which you can put this on line and just have business cards with the link on, a lot cheaper than having them printed. If you would like a portfolio site please contact me and I will set you on up for free.
examples of work can be provided on request. just message me here if you want, i am a professional website designer but have lots of free time (and enough money) so i am currently doing free sites for small bands, small artist etc, basically anyone who could not afford them otherwise.

Look for modeling agencies near you and send them a picture of your face no make up, and your whole body. Include stats like weight, height, eye color, hair color,ect.,ect. Include things like if you are in sports or act or have beuty contest titles. If they ask for money up front its probablly a scam.

Learn how to spell F-O-R-T-U-N-E right would be a good start, or at least learn how to use spell check.
On a serious note, try joining your local theater.
