It is spoken on any corner without deep understanding of that claim and that diminishes validity of it to the extent of zero.

THEREFORE IS ANY MAN BE IN CHRIST, HE IS A NEW CREATURE: OLD THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY; BEHOLD, ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW. - 2Cor.5:17
That is true, but it did not say Christians, or Muslims, or Jews , or Americans, it says clearly...ANY MAN IN CHRIST...not in Jesus

First of all, being born again does not mean being enlightened. Enlightened is a Gnostic term. Being born again means your "old man" or your sinful nature is "crucified with Christ" or DEAD to you. Your old self is no longer even existent, but is replaced by something much better! A brand-new you, a you that has been born in the Spirit. A Born-Again you! Jesus told a religious leader of that day (Nicodemus), "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:3.
Secondly, it is not something that you can simply state to yourself and others, it is a process that the Spirit of God brings about in your life and is not something you will ever HAVE to tell anybody. It is visible from a mile away. You know how some people have to tell you they are Christians and others you just know they are? THOSE ones are the born again Christians.

A born again Christian is when someone decides to change their lifestyle and become a devout Christian. This means that they will be faithful to the Christian Church and religion, following it very closely. Most people that are "born again" have had troubled lives previous to this change.

Many times that expression refers to people who have done "bad" things - some even paid their debt to society. After that, instead of going back to crime, they seek religion (which may or may not have been a part of their lives in the past), and becomes born again.

Born again simply means the person strayed from their religion for some time...then rediscover it as what they truly want in life.

Many people sway from their religion because of doubts...only to later realize its not a cult but a society that they feel comfort with.

The term isn't meant to be taken so seriously as you are making it. Usually it means that a person was a Christian, but strayed away from their beliefs. And then one day, they decided to walk in faith again. Thus born, again.

A sense of being born again may occur when one notices one's happy self returning from a trip through a storm, or when one joins a happy cult.

It depends what you mean by "born again." It can either mean your were a Christian, fell away from God, but you came back to Him. Or you can be referring to being born again, like when someone is bapitized. Baptism is refered to as being "born" into God's family.

Asking Jesus for forgiveness for all the sins you did. After you do that (and you believe he died for you), you are a born again Christian.
