You should gradually cut it out. Take small steps to get rid of junk food. Eventually you should attempt to cut it out altogether. If you have a good enough metabolism you can get away with it, but to be on the safe side make gradual decreases and you won't have a total spasm. If you can gradually decrease your junk intake by the time you cut it you probably won't notice. As far as the caffeine goes, try drinking tea.

If you have a goal to lose some weight then I would recommend you cutting out the fast food and junk food. I started a diet about month ago and eliminated all the junk food and have lost about 12 pds in 3 weeks. You be surprised by the results if you eat right!

You don't have to completely stop eating certain foods. You can just cut back and only "treat" yourself every once in a while. If you need the caffeine, you might try diet drinks. They will give you the caffeine kick without the sugar and empty calories of regular sodas.

You're going to put all that money, time, and effort into a gym program and then pollute your body with soda pop? You admit that you're addicted; do you think a caffeine addiction is a good thing? Consider that alcohol and tobacco (and donuts!) are legal and socially accepted too, but does that mean that overindulgence in these products is a good thing?
It's your body and your life, do what you want. But if you talk to the people at the gym I think you'll find people get out of it what they put into it. It's mighty hard to have good discipline in exercise while having poor discipline in diet.

That depends. Do you just want to be toned? Or do you want to be healthy and toned? I think it is best for you to have a little of what you crave so as not to deprive yourself of the foods you like, but you have to take all things in moderation. Addiction to soda or caffiene is not particularly healthy, and at an "addictive" rate, it is very unhealthy. I'd limit myself to a cup of coffee or two a day and a soda or two a week. Beyond that, you are getting into unhealthy levels of caffiene and soda.

I would talk to a nutrionist or dietician and have them set you up on a diet based on your age size and goals. If your are truely dedicated to working out and getting results, you should be dedicated to what you eat and drink to assist in acheiving those results. There is a saying everything in moderation. I have to follow a strick as I'm going for a lung transplant, I work out three times a week, yes once a week I go to McD's and get a happymeal w/the double chz burger but after reading how much fat calories and soduim is in it. I'm making changes I'm still going to go and get a happy meal but with the chicken nuggets and instead of fries the apple dippers and instead of soda they have juice as an option. this cuts calories fat and soduim by more than 3/4 . Its up to you how much do you wanna work out?

Cut down on the soda, it dehydrates you quicker when you're working out Find some kind of juice or sports drink to replace the sodas. Food wise lots of protein for the muscles. a few carbs for engery and less fried things.

If you're visiting a gym anyway, have a talk with the folk there... they can probaby advise on good nutrition. They may even have a nutritionist on staff, but most trainers are aware of the importance of eating right
