how do you cancel an email address that you no longer want or need?

Just ignore it! If you never access it, after a while the mailbox will fill with spam, and the owner (ISP) will deactivate it or send "mailbox full" messages to anyone who tries to send to it!

Just don't use it.

I think yahoo allows you to cancel if you got to your email and look at bottom of page.
