For a family that has kids from the age of 2-8, disney land is probably better. The kids can go take a picture with mickey.
For a family that has kids from the age of 13-17, six flags is a must.

This answer is pretty simple. For Families, its disneyland. A 12-year old boy died today on a rollercoaster in MGM Disneyland today =(, and six flags co. is planning to sell a few of there six flags including Magic Mountain! >=(
I know the are family rides in six flags, but Disneyland is full of it, and still great for the whole family.
Six flags is mostly rollercoasters, with the height restriction of over 54"

It depends on the ages of the kids. If there are any really young kids, Disneyland is probably a better bet. Six Flags is all about putting the "thrill" in "thrill-rides", so think twice with any kids under 10 (and short kids, since they can't go on most of the rides). But, if all of your kids are older, Six Flags is a much more intense experience, and one that I personally prefer.

Personally, Disneyland is better. I'm 25, have an annual pass, and I love to go as often as I can, even if that's not as often as I'd like! Six Flags is fantastic for rides, but there's just something extra special about Disneyland. For little ones, definitely Disneyland. For older kids, you should ask them where they'd like to go.
Then again, that's just my opinion.

If you got young kids under 48 inches tall, Go Disneyland. Almost everything at 6 flags geared for the tall and the brave!

Disney is better for the entire family because it's built for the family experience with more shows etc.
Sic Flags is built for the teenage -> 20s crowd with all of their rides and thrills.

I'd have to say Disneyland. But if you're low on cash than I'd have to say Six Flags.

I much prefer disneyland. But if you're into vomit inducing rides, Six Flags might be better.
