I agree with the others that this is the mucus plug. I didnt loose mine at one time. I noticed the discharge for about a week and there was no blood present.

Sounds like the mucus plug to me. I don't even remember my mucus plug with my son. All I know is that my water broke and I was in labor...I remember discharge throughout pregnancy but I didn't have a huge chunk of gross stuff come out right before I went into labor. Call the doctor..but it kind of sounds like that might be it.

I discharged a lot before I gave birth, and for me the mucus plug WAS one whole unit of mucus. Ask your doctor if you're worried though. Don't be embarrassed. I almost had a baby 3 time before I actually had him *smile*

i don't think it's the mucus plug! you are just experiencing heavy discharge, WHICH IS NORMAL, during pregnancy. the mucus plug WILL be blood tinged! i lost my mucus plug about an HOUR before i had my first child. with the rest of my children, i lost the mucus plug after they broke my water at the hospital... so i never ACTUALLY saw it with the last babies.

it can come out gradually. mine did, over a period of a few weeks. blood isnt necessarily there in the beginning. it will be at the end of the mucus plug though. congrats on your preg! check out the mothering board mothering.com.

At this stage in your pregnancy you should call your midwife/doctor if you're unsure of anything. Don't worry about feeling silly, they probably hear that kind of stuff every day. But one thing it will do is put your mind at ease. 'kay?
