Why are so many Caucasians claiming they have black and or Indian blood ?

I'm just curious,I'm not saying any racist things.

In one of my Anthro classes this kid claimed to be 1/34th black and I started laughing.

I think its cool that some "white" people want to express that they are not just one race, but what i dont like is when a person with dark colored skin tries to explain they may be half white hispanic or indian is told by a white person no you are black because they're skin is just dark. ex halle berry is the first african american to win an oscar or whatever... what the hell shes HALF white does that not count for anything?

That kid that claimed to be 1/34 black is obviously crazing. That being said, my husband is very proud of the fact that he is 1/6 Cherokee. It's about being proud of his families heritage. He obviously doesn't consider himself Indian. It's the same as me being 1/4 Jewish. I'm not Jewish but I am very proud to say that it is part of my heritage.
My husband always has people asking if he's from Puerto Rico or Mexico because he has darker skin but he doesn't claim a lie. He's always tells them that he's not and when they persist he explains that he has the complexion of his Indian ancestors. We don't say we're something we're not because we are VERY proud of what we are.

It depends...some do say that to "fit in", but some are telling the truth. Some whites do have black/Native American blood for many reasons, as you would find out in any history book. White men waaay back have been known to be with women of color.

It depends on the bloodline. Some may not look like it, but they may have, even if it is thin. And some are just pulling your leg. =)

Because it's true. Think of who was here when the Europeans first arrived, the indians. Slaves were brought over to the US in hordes. Many male slaveowners raped or had affairs with the female slaves. Remember? The French Quater of New Orleans was home to many bi-racial women who were mistresses to the rich men.

Caucasians are aware that we have entered a new age. The age of technology will soon vanish and the age of wisdom will abound. They understand that since they have controlled this earth they have destroyed nations, corrupted children and through hollywood prostituted the images of women throughout this planet.

There desire to identify with other races is simply their blatant admission that they have failed miserably at governing the people in righteousness and fairness.

The next age will be lead by black people according to scripture and they simply want to identify themselves with blacks so they won't be left out.

I'm Caucasian and I'm 2 different tribes of Indian and Even part Spanish but just because I'm White doesn't mean i don't have blood to back up my story

The white Americans and other races colors in America always say that they are mixed like 7 different races.
White American used rape Native Americans and that's how they claim that are little different blood in them same like black people in US and many others. The US are very diverst society

well i am Caucasian and i do have some Indian in my blood i don't know why the ones that don't have it in them are claiming it i guess they think it is cool to have a different heritage or something but those of us that do have it you usually will not even hear talk about it being part of them

All because of Afirmative action. The white folk get no breaks now. They only claim these other ethinicity when applying for things otherwise the white male says he is white to get the better paying job

They probably want to be accepted and to be closed away from their european heritage, specifically speaking about the caucasians.

Some indians say they are mixed with black, its sometimes hard to believe but i guess they are fond of african then ....
