No, when the gamecube was released, the japanese name was very similar to the X-box. Much confusion was found, when people attempted to buy a Gamecube, and ended up with an X-box. This time, to ensure this doesn't happen again, They chose Wii. This is universal in all languages, so there will be no confusion over dialect translations.

ok, before each little thing, this is no longer the position the call comes from. The Celts (said with a ok sound) were a race of folk in what's now eire and Scotland; a warrior tribe. So your premise is incorrect to commence with, and all you probably did became make your self look stupid. That being stated, it sort of annoys me that this is said "promote-tics" even as relating the basketball crew. i'm a pagan who works with the Celtic deities pretty a lot completely, and that i'm getting p***ed even as human beings mispronounce it and demand that they say it proper by using basketball crew. with the objective to respond to your question, sure, that is a dumb call for a basketball crew, yet no longer for the clarification you record. this is dumb because they could't pronounce it proper.

Yes, it's quite stupid. The first name, "Revolution" made a statement. It was saying "We're trying something new and turning the gaming world upside down."

Now that they've named it "Wii", it seems more like they're saying "Wii (why) do we even bother?"

from what i heard, the reason why they changed it to wii is because the word" nintendo revolution "is a long word for chinese people, so they named it wii.

no not really actually someone would say the game they wanted to play. it doesnt really matter about the name, just as long as the system is good. would rather have a good name with bad system or bad name with good system. besides u will mainly be looking at the graphics rather than the simple name they come up with

I partly agree with you but they named it Wii because it is going to be a system for all ages so "WII" means "We".

Yeah, but it certainly got people talking about it. It certainly shows innovation, and a break from the norm, but is it enough? The price point certainly helps.
