The earth is not flat, it only appears so because your vision of the earth's curvature is limited by both the atmosphere and your arrange of vision due to the earth. So in technical terms the point where the sky seem to meet the earth aka the horizon is actually the point where the earth curvature appears to have become so extreme that can not see the light reflecting from that point of the earth until you approach it. why do you feel the horizon is always the same distance from you. In other word we are to close to the ground to get a good enough view of it. And if you put the earth in an atlas in way it is there is no way you would get an entire view of it and have you never heard of a globe. Well if you have not get one I think you need it. Oh and will you are on that complete this little experiment: Walk to the horizon and keep walk until you come to the edge of the earth and tell me swim if you have to, too, to reach the end of it.

The earth isn't flat. If you see a picture of earth from space, it's clearly round. The only reason why companies put earth on a flat map is because they are much easier to carry around and to use than a globe would be.

Heehee. The map, of course, must be flat, in order to reveal the Earth, which is round. A globe is basically the same as a map, just not flat.

Hope that helped. lol

it really is a honest reaction, because the bible become supposedly the 'note of god' and consequently infallible. The bible reported, in case you settle for the translations, that the earth become flat and that the daylight revolved round it. Galileo Galileo contradicted those 'info' and become harrassed and punished through the Roman Catholic Church, his works were confiscated and hidden away as being blasphemous ... The Roman Catholic Church relented a at the same time as later. whats up - the earth is round, ya understand! AND it really is extremely older than 6'000 years! Many different such info deliver the bible spinning downwards to crash and burn as being precisely what it really is - an uninformed saga written through historic guy, who knew little or no of the info of physics, geography and extremely historic heritage, for historic mankind. it really is now 2007. have you ever realised?

The problem was that, at this time, the western world was in the grip of "the church" -- the Holy Apostolic Catholic Church -- and the view of the church was that man was a creation of god, god had put man on the earth, and god's creation -- man on his earth -- is the center of the universe. In the eyes of the Church, any suggestion to the contrary was blasphemy and cause for excommunications. Thus, Copernicus's theory was considered implausible by the vast majority of his contemporaries, and by most astronomers and natural philosophers of succeeding generations until the middle of the seventeenth century.

If the earth was a rotating globe, it would have to be turning at almost 1,000 mph in order to achieve one revolution per day. Now if the earth were really moving that fast, then when you jumped up in the air you would land far away from your starting point. So it must not really be a rotating globe.

If you bought that silly argument then you need to Google and study Isaac Newton.
