I can't tell you first hand but go to www.cancer.org It is the American Cancer Society's website. I am not sure how much information it has about detection, but it helped a friend of mine find a lot of answers after her husband was diagnosed.

Is Cancer Hard Or Soft

Usually cancer lumps are hard, with irregular edges BUT they can be soft too.

The only way to make sure is to go and see your doctor who may want to do a biopsy (remove and examine a small piece of the tissue) to make sure the lump is nothing to worry about.

A lump, whether hard or soft, does not mean one has cancer. If your family has a history of cancer, particularly a specific cancer like Hodgekins, have the lump inspected by an ONCOLOGIST. If, however, you have found a mysterious "mass" inside the tissue, make notes about its location, size, texture (hard, soft, bumpy, smoothe, dark, etc.), how healthy you feel at the time, and watch for changes. Write those changes down, and go see your family physician.
There is no reason to worry about something that means nothing. Different cancers present different ways. That's why "cancer" doesn't have a "hardness" or "softness" that is common to all cancers.

It can be hard OR soft....the biggest key is to feel if it moves because if it doesn't, then that means that it has grown roots (or legs) and can possibly be cancerous...but if it moves freely, it is less of a worry. Either way, please see a doctor if you ever come across something like that....cause only X-rays, MRI's, blood work, etc can tell the REAL DEAL of what the lump you're feeling is! Good luck

I think it depends of the type of cancer and where it is. There are many types of cancer but any lumps or bumps that seem abnormal should always be checked out.
