They will win a cup when they can get some good young guys to fill the team. They have a lot of veterans and well the new NHL is based on speed and that's something Toronto doesn't have. Also its management. They need to fire John Fergenson because in the past few years, hes made some bad deals and when it was free agency season, he didn't really do much. They would've kept Pat Quinn but they let him go which was a mistake IMO.
Now they signed Andrew Raycroft, but last year he was crap for Boston so why did they sign him for if hes gonna play poorly? Yeah I know one year doesn't make a difference as in 2004, he was the rookie goalie of the year. But IMO, they should make Aubin the #1 goalie, hes played good in that last month for Toronto but I guess they still don't feel he or Telliquvest isn't ready enough to be a starter.
Get rid of the veterans and trade them for younger talent, get a new GM, tell the media to not be in their faces for EVERY game, lower ticket prices and maybe just MAYBE we might make it!

Is this Pat Boutette asking this from the Centre of the Universe there?
The Make Beliefs? Try not in your lifetime as the bottom line with that organziation is making money not building Cup teams. Plus how many times have your Laffs choked in the semis to teams with less pts than them...four and counting since 1993.
I'l llaugh if Wirtz dies and Chicago gets a proper owner and comes thru. then your Maple Syrups will be the only Original Six who have not won in the color TV era. Hell in a Dan Daoust handbasket, we're already in the HDTV era now and still no sign of Cup glory on the horizon.

Maple Leafs need to get rid of overpaid Lindros and get some goaltending. They need to stop getting hurt and taking stupid penalties. Only then will they make the playoffs and have a shot at the cup.

not any time soon...Earliest I see them even making to the cup finals is at least 10 years.
And did you know that since expansion (1968) that only six teams haven't made it to the Cup finals.
Ottawa (1992)
Atlanta (1999)
Columbus(2000)
Minnesota (2000)
Nashville (1998)
Toronto (1917)
Edit:
San Jose & Phoenix haven't made it thanks to fugutastic.

If the league shrinks down to two teams, they might have a chance. A very small chance, lol.
