Because they're eager... and they don't realize the consequence of their actions until afterwords. I am 17, and I'm one of the few who want to wait until I find someone I truly love and trust.

I think it's crazy to lose your virginity at age 12, that is horrible. However I could be a hipocrit because I was 17 when I lost mine. Although when I did I fell in love and just thought it was a way of showing my love and affection towards that person. It just felt right, and I also assumed I would be with him forever. Little things you know when you are young. I also believe more people do it because there is more pressure from men and friends to become like that. Men these days are more egotistical and self-centered and do not believe in love or being in a serious relationship. If I was still a virgin, I would have definately considered the abstinence option. :-(

I was 17. I was with my boyfriend for 3 years and knew it was the time. I wanted to wait till I was a little older, but the time came earlier than I expected. I don't have any regrets. I'm in love with him and he's in love with me. Like I said, we've been together over three years now. I don't think it's ok to have it at 12, you're still a child... it's a really young age, and I don't think anyone at the age of 12 can be ready for such a mature decision. I always said I would wait until I was at least 18, but I was ready sooner.

12-17 is the time in a persons life that hormones start going on the rampage. It is when children become men and women, and their sexuality starts peaking. It is very difficult for people of this age to wait for marriage.

i believe the media tries to use sex to make every thing appealing these young girls are just wanting approval and the television is saying that sex is the best way to get approval from guys. and its true if you have sex with a man he notices you at least during sex but TV doesn't warn girls about the next day . If they did their ads would never sell. I say blame the media
p.s. guys are pressured at that age too

It is external influences driving them into this direction. They want to keep up with the trend... but the truth is..... they don't earn too much by this.
It all depends on the environment.
If your classmates have all lost their virginity and you not, you may feel left out. And nobody likes to be left out. Teenagers feel left out more often cause their personality is still in formation... and they cannot handle it... they want to be like everyone else!
It is hard to educate your children in a way that they believe in themselves and stand up for whom they are with courage...

Because 'sex' is the only thing on tv/media and kids are curious and a lot of times the realization that they rushed into it doesn't come until it's too late

I am in that age range and I agree. I have not lost my virginity and I don't plan to until I am married and have found the right husband.
