Mutual respect. Respect your son's intellegence. Compliment it and encourage it, nuture it. Demand respect from your son as well. Regardless if he is more intellegnet that you. If he is not of adult age, then clearly, firmly and kindly remind him that he is dependent on you and you deserve respect of providing his needs and providing him his life.
When he becomes of age, if he is dependent still, you deserve respect and when he is on his own, he will respect you out of finding out what it takes to provide for himself.
Accept him and his blessings and ask the same of him. You were blessed with talents abilities and you deserve respect for bringing those to the family to assist in providing his life.
