he is a complete back. not alot of backs can avg 100+ yrds u know. just cause one day they rush for 50 they still do alot of other things. im from san diego so u guys prolly think im just bragging but having LT for 4-5 yrs hes been doin alot wit so little. when u look at it hes made pro bowl when hes rushed for 13,000. the TD stand for its self cuz he can get it any way, run, pass, catch. the 2nd back to only rush for 1,000+ and recieve 100 passes and didnt go to da pro bowl. hes shifty, u cant compare him to Barry but for right now as it stands hes "complete"

I think Barry Sanders is the most explosive, greatest , exciting, entertaining back there has ever been. That being said he was not a complete back. When you look at backs as complete there are only a few to argue. LT, Marshalll Faulk, Priest Holms and maybe Eric Dickerson. The great backs from the past like Payton, Sayers, Brown they werent asked to be primary recievers. They were used more for blockers in non running plays. So if we narrow it down I would say Holms didnt do long enough and Dickerson was short in the blocking to much to be there that leaves Faulk and LT. I expect LT to pass Faulk eventually but he still needs to earn a few more years to claim the complete back prize. On a side note arent you glad you didnt keep Vick.

I think LT is the most complete back in the league at the present time. However, I have to say Walter Payton was the best ever. He was great at all facets of the game; running, catching, blocking, picking up the blitz, and being a true team leader. As far the moron earlier who said Payton couldn't block, I suggest you listen to clips of anyone who ever played for or against, or coached for or against Payton. Everyone I've ever heard talk about him has said that on top of being the phenomenal runner that he was, he was probably the best blocking back EVER. Let's also not forget that much like LT now, Payton also threw several touchdown passes and even punted on occasion.

Right now, LaDanian may be the most complete back. Payton was the complete package. He would run, catch, throw, and was known as a very good blocker. If you've watched him play or interview's with fellow athletes, he could throw a block as good as any running back.

That has fired me up. GALE SAYERS - Chicago Bears, 1964-69. Sayers is the "premier running back" of all time. He had all the attributes that LaDanian has, plus he was the offense. Everybody on the other team knew he would be the one getting the ball, and he could not be stopped! LaDanian is good. I have seen him, but in my opinion he will never compete with Gale Sayers.

At his prime, Marshall Faulk was the most complete back ever. Barry Sanders wasn't the best rush blocker. Neither was Payton or Dickerson. Emmett would have easily been top of this list if he had better hands. LT is definately the best active player, but if he and Faulk hit their prime at the same time, I would have gone with Faulk.

As good as we all know he is... he still isn't better than Barry Sanders... And the late great Walter Payton is much better than Ladanian also... not to mention Emmitt... he can't touch those guys... but he is the best back in the NFL as of right now... and this is coming from a man 10 years younger than you...

He's very inconsistent. I like the 17 yards on 7 carries against the Eagles. And he played little part in taking down the Colts.
Try Marshall Faulk and Shaun Alexander on for size.

I don think the other people understand the term "complete back". LT is complete. He does it all on a very high level year in and year out. The only other back that was as complete was Roger Craig. Maybe not as good a runner as LT, but everything else was there with that guy.

He is the real deal. You are SOO right on this question. The best back of all time has to be Walter Payton - he ran, he kicked, he punted, he threw, he blocked and he did it all. He had scored touchdowns running, throwing and kicking. LT is the real deal right now but he has come work to do to get to Payton's level. I love LT and his dedication and passion for the game.

dang see thats tough. barry, emmitt, jim, people like that did the dang thing. but see the thing about it is his throwing and vision ability. i have yet to see someone throw more passes then the 2nd string QB. and i mean accurate passes. emmitt and barry had really good vision. jim brown was a bit stronger than LT. barry might have been a lil faster. and emmitt could just flat out run the football, perhaps a lil better than LT. but none of them could do it all like LT could do it. i have 2 say i do agree.
