To make larger birds explode you need to give them calcium dicarbide which works far more effectively and actually fills them very rapidly with a gas called an alkyne which not only causes massive internal expansion but also, interestingly enough, is highly explosive!
For small birds you cant beat grains of rice which slowly expand having the same but less dramatic effect.
Can i qualify this by saying that this is only theoretical and please dont hurt any nice birdies!

sure it can cause them to explode. they don't explode like a bomb, besides the undeniable fact that that is going to kill them. that is because unlike human beings they couldn't expel the gas. when we've indigestion or heartburn and take bicarbonate of soda (baking soda), it motives a gas to construct interior us that when we burp or belch, helps the gas to flee. Seagulls or different animals like them can not carry out this function, which motives their stomachs to blow up. This truly surpassed off to a human about 15 years in the past who used bicarb about 1/2-hour after ingesting i trust it became Thanksgiving Dinner. medical doctors will advise waiting a minimum of two hours earlier utilizing something inclusive of Baking soda for alleviation. also if you're contained in the military and stuck feeding Alka Seltzer or different such products to the organic world you'd be punnished lower than protection stress regulation for animal cruelty.

Although the reaction of the acid in the stomach with the bicarb does create gases, it is unlikely to create enough gas fast enough to cause a birds stomach to explode. On a related note, how do you feed a bird baking soda?
