Hopefully 2 more weeks. You are not due yet, let the baby finish.

Don't listen to those pessimists, pregnancy is considered full-term at 37 weeks...so after 37 weeks, your risk of having an unhealthy baby are the same (low) as if you went to 40 weeks...don't worry about that. Castor oil, I don't think 2 tablespoons will do it, try for two more, mixed with juice. In my experience, it WILL NOT hurt you, though you may get diarrhea for a bit (at least that way you won't "go" on the table), you should go into labor within 24 hours, if you don't it won't hurt you to drink more castor oil (within common sense and reason of course)...

don't use castor oil. the baby will be born when it's ready. i walked a 40 acre field IN THE SNOW while 40 weeks pregnant (i'm a realtor) and all of that exercise didn't induce labor either. my daughter was still 2 weeks late. i know you're getting anxious... i remember thinking "PLEASE ANY TIME NOW" i remember being so big i didn't think i could get any bigger... but, the extra time is necessary for a healthy baby. make the babies father wait on you more... make the last few DAY (think 14 days... not two weeks) memorable. let the baby be born at it's own pace... the only thing us moms really want is a healthy baby that we can take home with us when we leave the hospital. nothing would be more sad than having to go home WITHOUT the baby because of size, or health issues!

castor oil does not guarantee the onset of labour. It's mainly an old wives tale. You are not due for another 2 weeks. Please let nature take it's course.

If your cervix is favourable then having sex may help speed things along as the prostaglandin in the semen stimulates the cervix to dialate. Also try rubbing the sort fleshy part underneath the inner ankles on both feet. (reflexology) or a hot curry, fresh pineapple or a hot bath.

None of these methods will work however if you'r baby is not ready to come yet. Please have patience.

#1 castor oil is just a laxitive it dosn't start contractions

#2 your baby isn't due for 2 more weeks and may not be ready to be born for up to a month

when a babys lungs develope all the way they produce a hormone that causes you to go into labor, if your not in labor naturally yet your baby isn't fully capable or breathing

With my last child, I took it 12 noon and went into labor around 11:45 pm. But by reading the responses maybe I was just lucky (and I was 40 weeks to the day)

Wow, all of those negative comments. They must have never been pregnant...... I am 38 weeks pregnant too and I took 2 tablespoons of castro oil and it hasn't done anything for me..... except flush my system. Its been about 7 hours so maybe it takes a little while, we'll see.

Every day that the baby is in the womb, it is growing and bcoming healthier. Castor oil, luckily, won't do anything to speed up labor.

Sorry but castor oil won't work. It just tastes bad. You could always try riding down a bumpy road. I tried just about everything and nothing worked for me. I had my daughter the day after her due date. I was induced and they almost sent me home. I spent almost 12 hrs waiting for her to come before she finally did.
