What advice can you give someone who is life dependant on weed? To someone who smokes it at least 3 times a day. And I'm talking about 3 good sized joints, not pinners. And on weekends, this person smokes it every few hours. She is past addicted and to the point where weed is smoked like cigarettes. Okay, I think you get my point - this person is extremely depressed, has been to group counseling, but still, she feels as if it were an impossible feat to quit. Please feel free to give your advice on how to quit. Any ex-potheads out there willing to share their secret?

it's not the strength of the drugs but the weakness of the mind! :))

I was never addicted to pot, but there was a time in my youth when I was smoking too much, and got very irritable when I didn't have any. I always brushed it off saying that I just enjoyed smoking, and that it was relaxing, that it mellowed me out, but it came to the point where if I went a day without smoking I was just mean to everyone, which didn't make me happy. My best advice is for her to find a way to keep busy doing something productive-I started running a lot, and it made me feel great about myself (as well as helped me drop the extra pounds the munchies had given me). I also stopped spending so much of my free time with the friends who still smoked, and spent more time with the friends who didn't. Anybody who is overindulging in something knows that a great support system is the best tool to beating the urge. Just be there with her while she's weaning herself off, literally spend as much time as possible with her. Keep her busy so that she isn't dwelling on smoking. It sounds more like it's an emotional thing than an actual addiction, so find a way to boost her self-confidence. Hope this helps, and good luck!

Most pot heads won't be able to help you as less than 1 in 10 marijuana users become dependant on marijuana. There are quite a few people with addictions though. What is needed is a therapist that handles people with addictions to come up with a program for curing her addiction and a few friends to rule her life until she is capable of handling this by herself.

There is no easy way out of an addiction. This will take time.
