For the first washing, turn them inside-out, wash them in cold water and add a cup of vinegar to the wash water. The vinegar helps to "set" the dye, so fading will be slower.
After that, always turn them inside-out to wash, and cold washing is still best.

If they are brand new wash them alone or with other black items..and yes inside out...then wash them using colors only detergent...in cold water..do not dry them...in the dryer
