I think her mom did it, but she died recently so we may never know. But maybe the dad knows something, too, and he won't say anything.

Living in Boulder and hearing all of the various scenarios,
I believe that the family did not do it.
How's that for a departure from the standard answer to this
question?
I believe that the Boulder Police just focused on the family
from the start and virtually refused to follow, or even research
other leads. Hopefully, someday, the true answer to this
question will be known to all. And regarding the answer that
Claire gave, There actually WERE footprints in the snow
outside the home. The person who made those prints is still
not known, but they are not from any family members.

Jonbenet Ramsey? I think it was most likely a rival little beauty queen's Mom. Didn't you ever see The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom? It's possible some desperate Mother paid her crack-head Brother-In-Law to kill her. You never know, that movie came out 3 years before Jonbenet was killed. Some people are KOOKY!!!

Seriously? A person who knew the family and their business. There was evidence of a intruder, so the Family idea is out. All I can say is that is takes a sick SOB to murder a kid like that at XMAS. My money is on a disgruntled worker.

Personally, I think that it was someone, either in the family or related. The whole thing just doesn't make sense. They searched the house for the body and found nothing, and then her body was later discovered in the house....

i cant say her mom did it but if she didn't i think she had something to do with it ,such a loss that beautiful little girl innocent in every way didn't deserve to be done the way she was

omg!!! please! email me about this! I have been wondering that for about uhh i dont know..my whole life!! There were know foot steps in the snow outside of her house, so i think the parents did it. i guess we may never know, but this is one world wide mystery..
