I am a teenager. A guy that is five years older than me really likes me and i really like him but we don't exactly "go together" because we don't know how people would accept us. My parents doesn't know about because i think they might flip out. Is age nothing but a number? Even if he is 20 years old?

Princess, I think you haven't thought things through. Age really does matter when you are 15 and he's 20. Yes he may like you but it doesn't look right because there because weather you like it or not your still a minor and he's an adult. Yes your parents will flip out because you haven't talked to them and because you don't trust them enough about this boy. My suggesstion to you is that just keep your friendship with this 20 year old strickly friends. There is nothing wrong with having friends but remember that you still have a lot of growing up to do. There will be a day when age really doesn't matter unfortunally is not today.

Yes this age difference is not good. I have a 15 year old and I wouldn't mind if she went out with a 17 year old but not a 20 year old. He is an adult and she is still in school. Now when you are an adult and you want to date someone 5 years older then that is different. Two adults can make adult decisions together.

When you are only fifteen age definately matters. A guy in his twenties is at a different stage of life than you right now (and if he's not then that's anohter issue all together). My guy is 10 years older than me, but I'm twenty eight with two kids of my own and he has two, so we have the same lifestyle. How will you go out with him if you have a curfew, or can't go to his favourite bar or campus activities? Date some guys your own age until you get to a point in your life where you are ready to settle down.

Age is only a number at say 25 and 30...not 15 and 20. Sorry I'd say your parents would have every right to flip.

Run away from this situation! He will want to have sex, when you aren't really ready. He'll try to talk you into it and you won't be able to resist this "older", "wiser" man. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!
Just be aware if he talks you into sex, the next thing is he'll end up in prison for having sex with someone under 18. And you will feel bad about it later.
Your parents are the older and wiser ones and they would be entitled to "flipping out" if they found out about it. They want to make sure you don't get hurt.
Find someone more your age, or wait until you get a bit older. Stick to group dates. Give yourself time to grow up. Meanwhile, have fun being a kid.

there is a big difference in dealing with minors, some guys will try to exploit minors because they have less relationship experience and are more "eager to please". If this person cares for you he will be just your friend until you are an adult and if you care for him you will keep it the same way. If you two do anything inappropriate he could go to jail and be branded a sexual offender for the rest of his life.

That's only the case if you are an adult. Do him a favor and get rid of him before you get him into some major trouble. Your parents would flip for a reason.
