You need to setup a terminal services server license required. If you only do RD with standard windows server only 2 users will be allowed to access the server remotely at the same time. I would also setup vpn using ias services so you have some kind of protection with the data passing through the Internet.

Terminal Services are communicated over a network which is the same network that the entire world is hooked up to. Any computer that is able to surf the Internet is connected to this huge network. Since you are able to connect to that server, it implies that both the server and the computer you are using is connected to this network, which people often refer to as the Internet.
With the Internet infrastructure up, it offers an endless array of possibilities, so, then, the question becomes why can't you? :-)

You might need a VPN tunnel or some sort of connectivity so they can connect Via Remote desktop. Also, a server on the US side to replicate the server in india for active directory.

It's a little involved but definitely doable. Unless you're an MCSE (or have that level of training) I'd hire someone to consult and do the setup.
