Call the Clerk of the Court in the county where your hearing is scheduled. Just call 411 and ask the operator for the number to the Whatever County Circuit Court Clerk's Office. Have your citation in hand as the clerk will need the citation number. Ask them to reschedule you because you cannot get off work that day or whatever. That's how it's done. Maybe they'll let you reschedule, maybe they won't. If they don't, make sure you go or you'll have a warrant issued for your arrest.

Good luck!

CA VC 12500(a) isn't a Misdemeanor, that is an Infraction. once you're operating a vehicle with both a suspension by a courtroom by using a Failure to look, or by the DMV, then that is a misdemeanor fee, notwithstanding, that is a diverse VC section. imagine of the hypothetical the position a teen, as an party, drives with out having previously been licensed. That action would not be a misdemeanor, yet an infraction.

If you've already paid the fine, you do not need to appear in court, at least in California. Once you pay the bail (read fine) the case is over and there is no need to appear in court, this is obviously true cause if you had an outstanding ticket, DMV would not have re issued your license, by paying the fine you cleared it with the court and an abstract issued to DMV

Get an attorney to file a continuance. That's a motion for more time.
