It needs to be newer, with better gas mileage. Can it be replaced with a Dodge Magna 6 cyl motor?

What type of new, factory-designed motor can be used/ I was considering a Dodge Magna V-6 but have 2 answers saying that's a Bad Idea.

In order to change to a motor that was not designed for the car, you will have to do some major modifications. You will have to find a tranny to marry to the engine that will work properly, move motor mounts, change accelerators, possibly cut fender wells out, and modify the firewall. Then you will have to look at fuel delivery. Fuel pressure requirement differ from engine to engine. You will probably have to drop the tank and install a fuel pump designed for the new engine if it is fuel injected Good luck and have fun, sounds life a project.
