McDonald's built their success by standardizing the menu and quality. Before the advent of big restaurant chains, travelers had no way to know where to get an acceptable meal. With independent restaurants, and carry outs, you had no idea of the cleanliness and quality of the food and service.

With a chain, and McDonald's was one of the first, you knew that you could order something and it would be the same in St Louis as it would be in Tampa FL or Washington DC.

Most people grew up eating at McDonald's. For some of us who are older (40's-50's), it was a treat to eat there. For younger folks, their parents were familiar with it, and it was easy to take the kids there.

because no nation with a McDonalds has ever attacked the US. It's true! Wierd.
Same reason ppl like ice cream. Sweet things, fattening things, taste good. If you ever watch Supersize Me, with Morgan Spurlock, you will be SO disgusted.
My family doesn't eat fast food. Maybe once a year but that's it. I've never even been to Burger King. Some kids like it because of the toys, my neice does. But if you go there, everything is much too big. Adults should be eating Happy Meals, split one with your kid to make sure they don't eat too much.

Familiar tastes that are not too bad. We grew up on it because of Happy Meals. We ate it as late-night food in college. We grabbed McD's drive thru as we took road trips. We got it when we didn't want to cook but didn't have a lot of money. And now our kids want to play in the Playland and get Happy Meals themselves. It's an interesting progression. I don't love it by any means, but it definitely is convenient.

I think because of the movie, "Super Size Me", it has become popular and hip to bash McDonald's.

Nobody like McDonalds© people go there to to be seen by the "in" crowd and infuential people in the community. I heard that the food is laced with some addictive ingredient that makes people keep coming back- like dope addicts.

Because we can't help to be the fattest country in the world. McDonald's is helping us succeed.

It tastes great, although it might not be very healthy for you. Even their salads are great. I looked at the ingredients in their salads and used almost the same ingredients to make my own.

I only have their food once in awhile so I don't get fat.
