very good it - opens your eyes to what each of us really do contribute to others and their lives even when we have no earthly idea we are doing it. ANd it does not matter what station of life we are from, we are important to the world and to others.
the book was great you can also see the movie, it is very interesting..

I did read it and I thought it was very good. I liked his other book "Tuesdays with Morrie" better though. If you read "Tuesdays with Morrie" before you read "Five people you meet in heaven" I think you will see more of the lessons that I believe the author is trying to get out there. I saw some common themes in both books, and I got more out of the the "five people..." story than I would have if I did not read the "Tuesdays" book first. Happy reading!!

I read the book and found it to be very touching although somewhat syrupy.
From my POV, it focuses too much on the human ego. It is as if everything in the afterlife is focused on making a person feel better about their life.
For a different look at the same topic, I'd recommend C.S. Lewis' "The Great Divorce". It's a fairly quick and easy read that really makes you think.

It made me kinda miss my grandpa. He passed away about the same age as Eddie, the narrator of the story. Although he did not accomplish much in his life, but he cared about his children and grandchildren and their future. Therefore, I think what he'd done for his offsprings is the greatest accomplishment of all time by assuming the primary role of a parent. It is similar to the responsibility that Eddie held to ensure safety of the children at Ruby Pier. I hope people like my grandpa and Eddie deserve a special place in Heaven, and whatever things that bother them in their earthly life should be relieved when they understand that life continues forever, passed on from one generation to the next, even someone's death annot sever its path.

Thank you for starting a book club. Yes, I read the book and enjoyed it. I thought it was easy to read and had enough mystery that it was entertaining. While it was thought provoking, I don't believe that Heaven is structured the way it was in the book. I did find myself wondering who and how I am influencing people around me.

I liked the book, but to me it seemed to be a lesser version of the book "The Travelers Gift". That was one of the best books I have ever read; and I read a lot. They were both very similar, but "The Travelers Gift", was overwhelmingly a better read.

I really enjoyed it. And I thought that the people who made the movie did a good job of adapting the story to the secreen.

I thought it was very well written, and certainly an interesting story. However I didn't sense the deeper, "hidden", subtext so many others allegedly did. And I'm usually pretty aware of stuff like that so maybe it wasn't there.

I read it and thought it was incredibly boring. It was just a guilt trip for the character and it didn't seem like he was much different at the end of it.
