It's just an expression. Like getting all your ducks in a row? Nobody actually expects that you have ducks that need to be in a row before you can proceed doing whatever it was that you had intended doing in the first place.

A day is made up of infinite moments. Living for the moment is living for the day as well, unless you stop living for the moment. Of course, if you did that, you could just skip the moments and just live for the day instead, saving you an infinite amount of time.

you're confused. living for the moment is the same as living for the day. It means take things as they come, live with time as it passes, rather than keeping your mind in the past, say with regret or "how it used to be"

A moment on a slowly rotating planet could be a day on a fast spinning planet, thus being the same thing. :)
