Isn't pretty much every month white history month? I mean, people are taught from Kindergarten on about history made by white people, but the chapters in history books about the Civil Rights movement and other important black history moments are usually like 2 pages or not there at all. To me it's sad we need a month for black history. It should just be something that's learned 365 days a year. As for your question, I think that there is a difference about acknowledging your race and being a racist. Racists feel their race is the supreme race and other races are less than. I think it's fine to be proud of whatever you are, but to proclaim there should be white history month because there is black history month just sounds like a KKK thing.

Though reverse racism does exist in some people, it is probably due to how the current administration is handling things - and people's life over there in Iraq.
There's nothing wrong with having Black History month - watch the History Channel - the rest of the year it is mostly about white people.
What I do have a problem with is that stores were not allowed to say "Merry Christmas" in their ads - but it was just fine for them to say "Happy Chanukah" and Happy Kwanzaa."

Paranoia. Whites would be judged as racist. Most neocons think there is no reason for a white history month, claiming superiority in every aspect of humanity. Black history and black awareness is Long overdue, and at least at this time in history, points out the huge contributions blacks have made to societies. For examples, black African artwork has long been way ahead of that of other cultures, being long time abstract, which whites only started to create in the 1900s.
George Washington Carver invented hundreds of uses for the peanut....many blacks were instrumental in fighting for our independence against the Brits in the 1700s, many Fought for the north to preserve the Union during the civil war, many fought in brigades and platoons during WW2 to help bring freedom to the world against Nazis....If for nothing else, studying black contributions is amazingly interesting. So is studying Jewish contributions, Arab contributions, Oriental contributions, Native American contributions, Eskimo contribution....it is our humanity expressed in diverse ways by varied cultures.

why the hell do white people need a white history month when it is that yr round including February. And by the way do you have to have every damn thing someone else has. It is not racism all the s*** that african americans have endured and still is enduring you can't even let them enjoy a month. Selfish people can't even deal with them having simple month. and not to mention the SHORTEST month. Get over it, it is not racism.

i've wondered this myself. like when in high school, we had the si se puede club, the asian pacific islander club, the african american club... and literally when some people wanted to start a caucasian club, they were told no, that it was forbidden.
i guess maybe people think that if whites are built up, or allowed to celebrate, it will somehow hold everyone else down. it does suck, though, b/c i don't know how many times i've heard people say that white people have no culture and therefore have nothing to celebrate, which just makes make my blood boil. we have a lot of culture... take a look at out european ancestry. we are just no longer allowed to celebrate or talk about it.

I have often wondered the same thing myself. If we are to be equal, let us be equal. Also, why do we have ms black america but not ms white america. We will never see equality as long as we keep segregating different races. Let us all be equal please. I know a lot of races that are prejudice but it is not advertised like it is with white people. It is not just white people who are prejudice. As a society, we are prejudice against obesity, handicapped, etc. Why can't people just learn to live as equals and stop making different things to celebrate for different backgrounds and let's be just people. That is when we will all be equal. The Lord made us all and we are brothers and sisters from Adam and Eve - let's love one another as equals. Thank you for your question.

i dont know and of course its a legitimate question
something else that also needs to be addressed is the fact that for some reason everyone thinks latinos hate black people, yet white people had them as slaves at one point...i dont understand the logic in that...(and no its not because the are jealous)
sorry i just wanted to say that

Ok just from reading some of these answers we haven't moved forward in stopping racism because most people dont want to, you enjoy hating, puting people down no matter what their color and it will never stop as long as we have people like most of you thinking and teaching your children the same crap that we heard when we were growing up, just stop it for God sakes , just hate, hate hate, you should be ashamed of yourselves.SHAME SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!

i think the "black" community has gone thru far more than white people, in general. black people tend to be less recognized for their achievements. have we had a black president? no. is it because black people are less capable of the task? not really. we have to fight harder to get where you already are... so, why should white people have a month?
honor the mexicans with a month... honor the jewish community with their own 30 days... honor the irish and italians!
