Absolutely. Not attempting is the real failure indeed!
Thomas Edison, the famous inventor, had already tried over 8,000 different experiments in an attempt to create the light bulb. One of his friends told him that he was really just a failure at it. Edison replied: Not at all. These were all successes. ...each experiment told me what would NOT work, so therefore, I am that much closer to what will work">
And after three Thousand more "Failure"< Edison invented the lightbulb!
To not attempt is the real failure, and if people judge you for your failures, be careful who you share your life with. Only have friends who will support what you want out of your own life. That includes family. If they are non-supportive, share zero, i said zero with them about your -p[personal life. You will have serenity.

In addition to learning from failure you can turn a failure into an unexpected success. For example Christopher Columbus failed to reach China by sailing west. He also failed to correctly measure the distance he needed to travel before he would reach his goal. Yet he discovered something very big.

If you built a small plane, tried to fly it, but crashed it with no injury, that would be a successful failure, in my opinion. lol
