It makes no sence. Isnt it just ridiculous?

Both are racist terms. Many believe that it isn't possible for a racial minority to BE racist, that racist terminology only trickles down, but just try using a slang term for a Hispanic person in California, a race that will become the majority race in just a few years. Can you tell me that using a racial slur isn't racist? When is name-calling ever good?

This is in agreement with the questioner, and I hope some will read it.

When are we going to get past the slavery issue. No one on the planet right now is nor have ever been nor has ever owned a slave.
None of us is responsible for what our ancestors did any more than you would be if your brother broke someones window.
The thing is---I was raised during the time that whites were called Honkies.....Blacks would use that term in order to belittle whites but no whites that I knew were in the least offended.
The N word is negative to blacks if used by whites as a reason to act out with their own racism. If there would be an honest poll, I really believe that it would be proven that blacks are more racist than whites. Even the government, no matter the race of the person in any office, discriminate against whites.
I know so many successful blacks, how do the blacks that use violence, riots and crime consider "the man's keepin' us down? as a reason for their failures.
Whites who act like that are called just what they are LAZY!
We don't blame other races & successful people who have worked hard to be where they are today for our plight.
Slavery---it's over, put it behind you and move on.

It's called hypocrisy. Because blacks use the term racist for convenience and an excuse. They say they're offended by the "n" word, but they use it a hundred times a day, mainly when addressing their friends and family. They say they want equality, but want special privileges. That's why Black people are not really taken seriously. The term racist has now backfired on them, because today kids in school jokingly say everything is racist, from not getting a good hamburger at lunch (the school cook is racist) to their TV show was canceled that day (TV networks are racist). I'm probably racist for having an opinion. The employers are racist because they want an employee to work hard and not sit around crying poor me........everyone hates me because I'm black.

Wouldn't it be much easier for all the "non-scum of the earth" to just stop name-calling or being bothered by name-calling or worrying about words that the scum are using? Why would any decent human being give a hoot what sounds people are making with their vocal chords? If some people think it's "OK" to call one color one thing and not a different color something else, who cares? Don't they have the right to think whatever crazy stuff they want?
And for all of you worrying about what happened in the past, I think you're being silly. I'm a white male and as sad as it is to hear about all the groups that were persecuted throughout human history, I don't feel a single droplet of guilt for it. I didn't do it, I wouldn't have done it, and if some of my direct ancestors did, there's nothing I can do to change it.

I got into a heated discussion with someone about this before. They tried to tell me that it was not racist for a black person to call a white person cracker or what ever because its only racism if a white person said it. I think thats crazy. A black can be just as racist as a white, and neither one of them is correct in doing it.

No not really it doesn't bother me to be called a Cracker at all, the term has not been used against my race in malice for ages and ages like the N word. The N word was used to belittle and intimidate blacks during slavery and should not even exist in the English language anymore.

Because blacks aren't secure yet as a race to laugh it off - whites, on the other hand, have had the upper hand for a very long time and a word like cracker is just, well, laughable.

It's not okay to call anyone out of their race name. I have a client that I give personal care to every day for 1 hour and a half. She is 82 yrs old and very set in her ways and upbringing. I hear her all the time talking to herself saying "After all I have done for the colored". I asked her, after once too many times of hearing it. Who are the colored? I also told my client that I did not want to be referred as colored. But this is what the racial past of the south labeled us and some continue to do so. So people of all races are still ignorant of each other and still race haters.

The N word IS racist, no matter what some blacks call whites, and two wrongs don't make a right.

Racism is not okay from any ethnic group. The more people perpetuate stereotypes and name-calling the longer racism will prevail. If African Americans refer to Caucasians as Crackers or Honkeys then the Caucasians will feel that it is justified to use a racial slur back.
